I Raw Bar West Bow. 226 7667. This traditional Scots pub with pews. bare floorboards and an old hack gantry caters for the serious ale hound with at least eight to choose from. Regulars in the litre- up include Courage Directors. Caledonian 80/- and IPA while there‘s also a high turnover ofguest ales. featuring the likes of Flying Firkirt and Jennings.

The complete range of Caledonian ales are on offer here and transporting them from the brewery isn't a problem since it‘s only a stone's-throw away. Caley‘s beers just keep on winning awards which could explain why this place is always mobbed when there’s rugby on the box of a Saturday afternoon. I Cask And Barrel Broughton Street. 556 3I32. Located in a street teeming with boozers. this big. old fashioned bar has a lively. relaxed atmosphere and a loyal band of regulars. The mainstay real ales come mainly from Caledonian and Boddington's with Deuchar's IPA. Bass. Caledonian 8()/- and Border Special. while guests include Hopscotch and Freshers. Their Scotch pies are bloody good and their Thai lunches even better. I Cumberland Bar Cumberland Street. 558 3I34. Ifsupping beer‘s your thing in life then. as far as choice goes. there‘s no better place to do it than here. With a minimum often ales on tap. including Bass Export. Timothy Taylor Landlord, Deuchar‘s IPA and all-year-round Murray Summer Ale. there's a Scottish bias and a keeness to support independent Scottish breweries. A diverse bunch frequent this
