I Splash ’89 Royal Commonwealth Pool, Dalkeith Road. Edinburgh. 9am-9pm both days. In 1986 the world record for the number of participants and amount of money raised in a sponsored swimming event was set by Splash ‘86, when 3559 people raised £91.552 for charity. Three years on. the Royal Bank, organisers of the original event. hope to beat that record by bringing together hundreds of teams who will swim continuous relays across the pool for fifty minutes at atimc: each team will consist of six swimmers and a non-swimming captain. The closing date for team entries was in December, but spectators are more than welcome — as is their money. which this year will go tothe Prince’s Trust.
