Kings Theatre, Edinburgh This is a genial ‘Chorus Line' about a group of evening class would-be tap dancers. They have a suitably scaled down set of personal problems to match the charity dance show for which they are feverishly preparing: ‘It may be February outside but it's always August underyour armpits', says one. Set in a ‘Dad’s Army’ style church hall, this is situation comedy in television tradition—even it the only TV name is Suzanne Danielle. Richard
STEPPING OUT
Harris‘s script isn't anywhere nearthe quality of ‘Dad’s Army’, however, which makes the task at establishing the charicatures really quite ditticult. The cast doesn’t make a bad job of it but really it is only the tap routines that manage to maintain the laughs or the interest.
Not a bad show, or a bad startto the King‘s autumn season, it nevertheless demonstrates the real ditliculty of finding popular, light comedy on the touring circuit of top quality. (N Billen)
