The Interior ol the First Hunterian Museum with Statue at James Watt by William Stewart (1823—1905) The painting makes reference to a modest incident which partially led Wall on to his revolutionary invention of the steam engine. As he was Mathematical Instrument Maker to (ilasgow L'niyersity at the time. I757. its recent purchase by the museum is not entirely inappropriate.
