Hairy Maclary : Assembly George Square -The Theatre 10:30 3-20 Aug AAAAA One4Review ‘Out of the gate and off for a walk, went Hairy Maclary from Donaldson’s Dairy.’ Anyone with young children will recognise these immortal words instantly as the opening lines of the book ‘Hairy Maclary from Donaldson’s Dairy’ by Lynley Dodd. Featuring many of the characters from the books like Hercules Morse, as big as a Horse, Schnitzel von Krumm, with the very low tum and Scarface Claw – the toughest tomcat in town. With music, singing and several of your favourite Hairy Maclary. stories, this show is a must for the whole family.
Jason Byrne: The Man With Three Brains : Assembly Hall – Main Hall 21:00 3-27 Aug AAAAA Metro Three brains kick into action when Jason is on stage. Left brain scans the audience looking for improv moments. Right side has all the stand up and stunts in there like a filing cabinet, ready to dish out when needed. Middle brain just shouts,“come on, keep pushing yourself”, it’s the drill coach of the three brains.
Borders by Henry Naylor Gilded Balloon Teviot - Dining Room, 16:30, 2 - 28 Aug Following the hugely successful global tour of his third play, Angel, two-time Fringe First Award-winning playwright Henry Naylor premieres his highly anticipated new play, Borders. Inspired by our generation’s cataclysmic refugee crisis, this is an epic story of one young Syrian’s journey to Europe… a Europe that now belongs to the Right – a Europe with Borders.

Double Feature Gilded Balloon at Rose Theatre - Main Theatre, 19:15, 2 - 28 Aug Scotland’s most-seasoned comic performers, the Fringe First Award-winning Andy Gray & Grant Stott, star in Phil Differ’s play as two old pals granted their dream job – clearing out their former local cinema. Amidst the process of stirring memories and recreating scenes from their favourite movies, their shared fanaticism for film soon makes way for bigger issues that have long remained unsolved…

Circa: Humans Circus Hub, 19:00, 4 - 26 Aug The new, thrilling and heart-stopping performance from the internationally acclaimed Circa (Closer, Beyond, Wunderkammer). Created by Yaron Lifschitz and fresh from a storming season at Sydney Festival, ten acrobats go faster, harder and higher than ever before, taking us on a stirring journey of what it means to be human.
Alexei Sayle Med Quad, 18:45, 2 - 11 Aug The Godfather of alternative comedy returns to the Fringe for the second time in 37 years with a brand-new show. His acclaimed memoirs, Thatcher Stole My Trousers, was published last year and his recent BBC Radio 4 series Alexei Sayle’s Imaginary Sandwich Bar was nominated for a Chortle Award. Lula del Ray by Manual Cinema Med Quad, 16:30, 2 - 28 Aug From the company behind Ada/Ava (total sell-out Edinburgh 2016), the critically acclaimed Manual Cinema return with Lula del Ray. Told through a live-collage mix of shadow puppets and actors with live music, this show is a mythic reinvention of the classic coming of age story. New York Times Critics’ Pick 2017.
Prom Kween Cowgate, 8:35pm, 3 - 27 Aug From the producers of the five-star hits Margaret Thatcher: Queen of Soho, How to Win Against History and Dizney Rascal, Prom Kween is a coming of age satire for those who hit that age years ago. It’s a musical about falling in love with who you are (with lots of sequins). Proudly part of the Underbelly Untapped season.
