AROUND TOWN The Olympics may well be over but Glasgow still has cause to celebrate its local talents this September when the city welcomes home Scottish gold medal winners Chris Hoy and Katherine Grainger, among others, for official celebrations within the city, on Fri 14 Sep. FILM Elsewhere, we are very excited to hear that God Help The Girl, the musical feature film, written and directed by Stuart Murdoch, the lead singer of the group Belle and Sebastian is now complete. We can’t wait to see it.

MUSIC The Captain’s Rest and M th their mighty fine array of gigs are t to be no more. Well, no more on Great Western Road anyway, with plans to re-open on Sauchiehall Street, in the near future. In its place comes the Hug & Pint, so named after named after the Arab Strap album. We like them already. THEATRE Finally, in quirky theatre news, Adrian Howells, who impressed List HQ with his 2011 Fringe outing The Pleasure of Being is to bring his latest opus Lifeguard to Glasgow in October, courtesy of National Theatre of Scotland and the Arches, and in association with Govanhill Baths Community Trust. Performed in the training/toddlers pool of Govanhill Baths, creator and performer Howells’ latest piece examines human beings and their relationship to water and swimming.
