CHRISTINE LEATHEM

Christine Leathem is a printmaker currently based in Glasgow. As an artist she frequently uses lithography, woodcut and digital media as tools to create her work. With a primary interest in ideological systems, her pieces are based upon concepts such as Romanticism and the American Dream and feature imagery that appears idealised alongside that which creates a destructive force or has negative connotations. This powerful clash of imagery is what creates the conceptual dialogue within the work. Over the last 3 years Christine has exhibited throughout the UK, including shows in London, Belfast, Glasgow, Edinburgh and Cork.

Christine Leathem’s lithograph Untitled (pictured) was recently named as the winning submission of Northland, the first ever anCnoc Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky and Glasgow Print Studio artist competition, judged by renowned artist and playwright John Byrne. The romantic lithograph uses the rolling hill as a frame for idealised imagery beneath and is inspired by the ‘black hill’ and stunning Highland scenery at Knockdhu Distillery, where anCnoc is created.

Christine Leathem’s lithograph, Untitled, is on display as part of the anCnoc Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky and Glasgow Print Studio exhibition Northland, running in the ground floor gallery until 2nd October.
