The tale of the boy who never grew up is given a Scottish flavour, in keeping with the nationality of its creator, JM Barrie, who was born 150 years ago. With flying children, thrilling sword fights, fire-eaters, acrobatics, dastardly pirates and the ominous ticking of the crocodile, this production promises excitement for all ages.

Derren Brown plays mind games with his audience and himself using psychology, illusion and showmanship – and then hopefully explains how he did it. Edinburgh Grand Opera performs Verdi’s interpretation of Shakespeare’s Scottish play; a tale of ambition, witches, power and glory. Connect Festival Tue 8–Sat 12 Jun. Times vary. £8 (£5). A festival of youth theatre, with pieces written, directed, acted, sung and danced by young people from around Scotland, including a showcase performance of extracts from Billy Elliot: The Musical by eight different theatre groups. All performances are showcases or double bills, to give extra value for money, and the writers whose work the youngsters are taking on include Liz Lochhead, Ali Smith and Davey Anderson.
