The List launched Metro's ()ne .Ilintne Wonder l'i/m ('wn/n'n'lion and invited scripts on the theme ol‘ ‘\\'ild‘. (her 100 scripts came in and the lucky winning writers saw their films made. The films were premiered at the 2007 HM" and on lisr.m.uk and then all inyolyed decided they wanted to do it all oyer again.

And so it was that the Short I’ilm (‘ompetition was born. This time we inyited three-minute scripts on the subject ol‘ 'Big‘. Juries were formed. oyer 2()() entries cattle in. a shortlist selection ol‘ writers was sent off to screenplay boot camp and linally a trio ol~ winners emerged. And so it was that Metro put .lan Storie‘s Learning ('uri'es. Margherita Still‘s .lli/k Girl and Heather Day‘s Big Mistake into turnaround.

So l'ar Day‘s Big .llis‘luke has been completed (pictured) and it‘s an absolute gem. I met up with Metro Ml) ()scar Askin and the producer ol' all three lilms Barry Paton to get a status report.

‘We are just putting the linishing touches to Big .tlisluke. It was directed by Adrian

Mead and was shot oyer two days ottt near I’cnictlik: we had to close the road oil. for

two days. We are taking our time this time. We really don‘t want to skimp on quality .'

Haying missed out on Scottish Screen l‘unding earlier. this year. the project has become more than a labour ol‘ love for both men. Askin explains: "I‘his competition is l’antastic and this new film looks ama/ing. I think the rewards l‘ar outweigh the many struggles. .'\t the end of the day these winners are going to walk away with a finished lilm that has been tnade to the highest professional standards we can muster. And then we’ll moye on to the next competition.‘

Filming will start soon on .llilk (:‘ir/ and Learning ('m'i'es and it is hoped they will be ready to be premiered in the New Year. The list. as always. will keep you posted.
