his year's tenth appearance of 'l‘ in the Parks famous Slam ’l‘ent promises one of the finest
line—tips yet. vvith appearances by the likes of
liclix l)a llotisecat. Jeff Mills. Laurent (iarnier. 2 Many l).|s. ()ptimo. (‘ut (‘opy' . . . vve could go on. Here. a fevv of the biggest and best names give its their tliotiglits on appearing under Scotland's most famous canvas.
Have you played T in the Park before?
Damian Lazarus: First time for me and I’m very excited tilftitll ll [00.
Vitalic: I spent tvvo days at the festival and it vvas a lot of fun. I have tvvo memories. the first one being the vibration constantly unplugging my drum machine from the povver socket. and also of RliM playing ‘livery'body llurts'. 'l‘hat vvas intense.
Slam: The first year vvas ama/ing because nobody kncvv vvhat to expect. Daft Punk did one of their fevv live gigs and vve knevv vvhat to expect because they had played Never Get Out The Boat the year before on the chfrevv I‘t‘t'l‘)’. btit this vv as on a different scale. Since then there have been too many highlights to mention. \Vhen vvc did ‘l.ifetimes' vvith Tyrone Palmer in 200] on the Alien Rat/ll) tour the place vvas in tears. and that stays vvith tis.
Rob Da Bank: I‘ve never been and I'm mega excited. it‘s one of the only l'l-s' festivals I haven't been to. What about TitP crowds, how do you find the reaction when you come here?
DL: It's alvvays a pleasure to be in Scotland. lispecially for a rave.
V: I played at the Arches for Pressure/Sonia parties recently. and it vvas banging. To me. the Scottish crovvd seems so really into music and partying. and expresses itself loudly.
S: We play all over the vvorld and vve alvvay's compare anything to Pressure or the Slam Tent. and their crovvds‘ intensity and reaction to good music. liverything is second best to Scotland.
My Robot Friend: This is my first time performing in Scotland. I’ve never seen Scottish ct‘ovy'ds before btit I imagine that they are sexy; much sexier than crovvds from other countries such as Slovakia. No offence to Slovakia. I‘m sure they're sexy too. I've never actually performed in Slovakia or Scotland. so it‘s just a guess. But it is an educated guess.
RDB: I've played a lot in Scotland recently and you have the best crovvds bar none. liv en vvith threc foot of snovv in lidinburgh and about a hundred people my last gig turned into a mash-up.
Planning anything special for the weekend?
DL: I‘m playing first up on Saturday so I‘m planning
to vveave some interesting sounds into the heads of
the people that take an early trip.
S: It's our tenth year so vve have to make it special. There's loads of great mtisic around novy. so vvc‘ll start vvith some current and future stuff and then finish vvith some special re-vvorked classics.
MRF: I plan to light tip and dance and make love vv ith every single person that comes to 'l‘ in the Park. .-\ftcr
that. I vvill perform my set. It will consist of
dangerous special effects vvith a high risk of electrocution and embarrassment.
RDB: Well I'm on very early doors so I'm gonna try and go from Vangelis-style ambient music into slamming techno in 75 minutes. ('ome and see hovv I
do.
