More interestingly, King thor’s 1955 jazz age drama Love Me or Leave Me is rarely shown and exhibits a much darker side to Day’s oeuvre as she plays Ruth Etting, a smokey voiced singer who is much sinned against. James Cagney is superb as her evil-tempered manager Marty Snyder.
