.l 2' MISH MASH Cuba Norte, Glasgow, Sat 14 Aug

Certain clubs should never leave Glasgow, and Mish Mash is one of them. Oscar Fullone’s achingly eclectic club night, established with a run of legendary nights at the Riverside Club from 1998-2001, has been itinerant since an ill-fated series of nights at venues such as the Arches, the Universal and the Liquid Lounge. But Glasgow is getting set to be mashed once again as the club sets up in the cavernous environs of Cuba Norte in the heart of Glasgow's Merchant City.

Of all of the musically-dedicated club nights in Glasgow (and there are fewer than you might think), Mish Mash is the most fascinating. Its sophistication and depth could easily have put it beyond popular appreciation, but in fact it’s left a hole in the city’s nightlife that has

been felt by many.

Oscar is understandably enthusiastic about the prospect of resuming the party in his home city: ‘Originally, I was just going to programme some stuff for Cuba Norte, but the more I spoke to people, I realised that we could do something really special in the space with Mish Mash. It has been annoying that the things in my home town haven’t really worked out recently, but that's all about to change.’ The rebirth of

something beautiful. (Johnny Regan)
