This autumn, the publishers of The List are launching a new magazine dedicated to the visual arts. With support from the Scottish Arts Council for an initial three-year period. the quar- terly publication has the opportunity to be the most influential art magazine ever published in Scotland. But in order to suc- ceed, we need to find an editor of the highest calibre.
We are looking for a journalist with a very sound knowledge of the international contemporary art scene. and at least three years' experience in writing and editing in a magazine or newspaper environment. Above all. we are looking for someone capable of discussing art in a way both appeals both to artists and non-professionals.
If you're the right candidate you will provide the inspiration for the magazine's editorial strategy, oversee its launch. and manage a small team of editorial and production staff. Based at The List's offices in Edinburgh and Glasgow. you will work closely with the magazine's publisher to create a vibrant and viable publication.

mystify the experience of visiting. working in or staying in the hospital. and to reduce the anxiety and stress often associat- ed with the clinical environment.
We are looking for two artists to work alongside an environ- mental psychologist to develop two new commissioned proj- ects. The brief for the first project will explore ways to enrich the physical environment of the hospital, especially in relation to recovery and relaxation. The second project will focus on the hospital community. especially in relation to journeys made in the care and treatment of mental illness.
The expected outcomes of this first stage will be research and conceptual designs for two physical projects arising from a collaborative process between artist, environmental psycholo— gist and the hospital community. On approval. it is expected that artists will be retained to implement their concept designs. The implementation value of each project will be in the region of $230,000.
This commission is for the research and concept development stage only.
Concept design fees: £4000.
Implementation budget: in the region of $330,000
