GLucian Freud: Etchings 1946-2004 Until Sun 13 Jun. £3 (£2): children under 12 free. The first ever UK museum show dedicated to the lesser known printmaking works by one of the worlds' greatest realist paintings Lucian Freud. The exhibition features over 60 original etchings dating from the l940s which were small in scale and very detailed. mirroring his paintings at that time to the more freer. more ambitious prints of the 1980s onwards. Like his paintings. tnany of the works focus on the human figure but also include studies of nature. Garden in Winter being an impressive example. Many of the etchings relate to paintings and vice versa and his approach to the medium is similar to his paintings. handling the etching plate like a canvas and drawing from the sitter in front of him. Ben Nicholson and the St Ives School Until Sun 13 Jun. Free. An exhibition looking at the long and prolific career of Ben Nicholson (1894—1982) who is acknowledged for having had a greater influence on the development of abstract art than any other British artist. The show features over 50 works from the gallery’s permanent collection from throughout his career and works by his St Ives contemporaries.

(iiven to King George 111 by the Nawab of ()udh (Lucknow. India) in 1797. it fortns an official record of the first ten years of the reign of Shah-jahan (r. 1628-58). fifth Mughal emperor of India and builder of the 'l'aj Mahal.
