Titonton Duvante's CV is something of a techno wet dream. After studying classical composition and opera performance, he went on to release records on such genre-defining labels as Planet-E and Multiplex. These days he spins at the most ultra-cool parties in the world: the Detroit Electronic Music Festival, Tresor (Berlin), the Rex Club (Paris), the Liquid Rooms (Tokyo) and now Higher Ground.
‘l've been wanting to book Titonton for ages. He plays that melodic, Detroit-influenced techno that I love,’ says promoter Lee Duncan. Titonton will play his Glasgow debut at Higher Ground’s new home at the Riverside Club on a personal recommendation from his friend, collaborator and former Higher Ground guest, John Tejada. ‘Tejada really enjoyed it. I think Titonton's quite excited about playing here.‘
The club‘s other Lee, Lee Campbell, is equally positive: ‘We're building up our niche and booking DJs who haven’t been promoted much in Scotland.’ It is dedication to the music that has secured them such high calibre guests and it‘s great parties that have led to their guests recommending Higher Ground to their mates back home. ‘We must be doing something right,’ says Campbell.
