There’s something very attractive about the relationship between fashion and house music. Remarkable characters from both spheres acting and dressing up, looking great and throwing shapes to some of the funkiest tunes around. Dance shouldn’t be about how you look, but occasionally it’s fun to put on a bit
of a show.
Therefore, the latest idea from Carbon Records and ultra-trendy Buchanan Street lifestyle emporium Urban Outfitters is a welcome diversion from Glasgow’s usual nightlife set-up. An invite-only fashion show in store is followed by a trip to the CCA on Sauchiehall Street (with buses laid on, mind!) to hear another great house, techno and breaks set from Carbon DJs Matthew
Prall and Chris Marr.
Prall enthuses about the sounds that will accompany the action on the catwalk: ‘Carbon is about cool music for everyone. It’s about being able to listen to anything you like, opening doors into a complex and ever changing
music culture.’
