The Scottish Museums Council aims to achieve the best possible museums and gallery provision in Scotland for the public benefit. SMC is the membership organisation and principal channel for Scottish Executive funding for non-national museums in Scotland. We have 340 members, including all of Scotland's local authorities, university, regimental and independent museums.
We are now seeking two experienced and highly motivated individuals to promote recognition of the essential role played by museums in Scottish life.
Fundraising and
Development Adviser £ 16,173 - £20,394
Full-time, permanent post
A dynamic individual, with excellent organisational and communication skills, you will advise museums in Scotland on fundraising and business development, disseminating good practice and contributing to the SMC training programme. You will also assist SMC staff in the development of projects and raise funds for these.
You will be educated to degree level and ideally possess relevant qualifications, two years experience in a similar role and a clean driving licence. However, we might be prepared to train on exceptional candidate with outstanding potential.
Communications Officer £16,173 - £20,394
Full-time, permanent post
A creative individual and strategic thinker with excellent verbal and written communication skills is needed for this key role.
You will develop and deliver SMC's communications strategy to internal and external stakeholders, including dealing with press and media and coordinating our highly-regarded publications programme.
Two years experience in a busy PR role is more important than museum sector knowledge.
