MUSEUM

SCOTTISH FOOTBALL MUSEUM

Scottish Football Museum. Hampden Park.

~..~ "in .. ," .Ji. - Slaw» ,, $9M! fxqf‘I-Pw‘fiv a v; ,

If there’s one thing Glasgow is known for it is football. With three of Europe’s five star stadiums and some of the biggest teams housed here it is a natural home for the first national football museum.

Years of research and interviews have created a museum full of football history, memorabilia and information. It highlights football‘s history and the impact it has on people’s lives as well as how it has developed into the game it is today. Areas of the football ground have even been restored to their former glory, so you can experience the history of Hampden in the original home dressing room and the famous press box.

The piece of memorabilia that has pride of place in the museum is the Scottish Cup Trophy, the oldest national trophy in the world, which has been donated by the Scottish Football Association. As well as the trophy there will be plenty of other football souvenirs past and present, such as the oldest football ticket in the world, the Wembley Wizards ball from 1928, Kenny Dalglish’s 100th cap and Archie McPherson’s famous sheepskin

coat.

Whether you love the game or loathe it, this football museum has something of interest for most people. The only thing it doesn’t have is the

ability to make you a better player. (Jane Hamilton) I See Permanent Attractions for contact details and opening hours:
