Critically acclaimed for her film and video works, Highlights, Moorgate Station and Highlights, London Bridge, Marine llugonnier presents recent film/video projection. Revisiting early film works of the 60s and 70s, her new 16mm looped film Sky Cycle introduces a subjective camera that spies the activities of a boy at night. Part of Iii-re 5a Vic.

The Scottish Colourists 1900-1930 Until Sun 28 Jan. £3.50 (£3). A major survey of the work of Cadell, Fergusson, Hunter and Peploc, collectively known as the Scottish Colourists. The exhibition, curated by Philip Long, was first shown at the Royal Academy of Arts in London, attracting 80,000 visitors. The most admired of Scottish artists, but often overlooked by art historians, all four were greatly influenced by France, and exposure to post-Impressionism and the early Fauve works of Matisse not only shaped their style but saturated their paintings with tremendous colour. Andrew Gifford Until Sat 13 Jan. Sheffield-born artist Andrew Gifford shows new and retrospective works. Primarily a landscape painter, Gifford ’s series of works relating to Middlesborough Art Gallery and the surrounding town will be shown alongside landscape and abstract paintings created during a recent residency in the Dordogne. Gifford previously showed a light installation at the gallery as part of their Northern Lights exhibition in 1997.

American-born landscape painter Jeffrey Blondes has lived and worked in France since the early 19805, but in 1998, he made his first trip to lnvernesshire to create new work for the gallery, featuring a series of charcoal drawings. Tarka Kings Until Fri 22 Dec. Dividing her time between London and Angus, Tarka Kings presents an exhibition of
gouache and tempera paintings featuring scenes of Soho by night and the fields of Angus by day.

On show in the gallery is Tilson ‘s Oneiric Alphabet (1969—70) which is made up of varying screenprints dedicated to each letter of the alphabet, using the iconic imagery of revolutionaries and philosophers.

Shift: New War 5 By Alison Watt Sat 18 Nov—Sun 7 Jan. Greenock-born artist Alison Watt is one of the leading painters to emerge from Scotland in the last decade. Showing a new series of paintings for the first time at the gallery, Watt, renowned for her diptych paintings of a female nude and painted fabric, now turns her attention to the fabric.

Marty St James’ video project Picture Yourselfemphasises the uniqueness of our lives. Visitors to the gallery during the year 2000 can have their portrait hung and framed in the permanent collection in the company of the gallery’s most famous faces.
Writers Of Our Time Until Sun 25 Feb. Recently acquired portraits of some of Scotland’s best known writers go on display. Central to the exhibition is Calum Colvin’s photopiece, Kelvingrove Eight, commissioned as a west coast counterpart to Sandy Moffat’s east coast Poet's Pub. Other works include Jennifer McRae’s painting of Robin Jenkins and David Williams’ diptych ofA.L. Kennedy.

John Stoa: Lady In Black Wed 6—Sun 17 Dec. Landscape and figurative paintings by artist John Stoa.
