Edinburgh clubbers are already familiar with the Vegas phenomenon, but Glasgow is in for a big surprise this fortnight when the guys and dolls shift west. Jack Mottram spins the conversational roulette wheel.

A;

What's all this then? Frankie Sumatra, Bugsy Seagull, Dino Martini and the Vegas Showgirls are coming to town with their glitzy glamour experience.

I have absolutely no idea what you're

talking about. Time for a potted history

then; Vegas launched three years back

as a reaction to the prevailing tedium of

bog-standard housey-housey clubbing, with the aim of creating an old- fashioned party atmosphere. As the

name suggests, punters are encouraged

to find the Rat Packer inside themselves.

Ooh. Do I get to play dress up? indeed you do, the kids are asked to emulate the improbably monikered disc jockeys and get dolled up to the nines in suitably retro gear.

Retro? Does that mean loads of po- faced art student mods will be there? Not at all, the retro theming is pretty loose, based around idiosyncratic old tunes, be they from the golden throat of Ol’ Blue Eyes himself, Latin percussion workouts or Shirley Bassey belters.

Are there any fun games to play? However did you guess? The Vegas theme is a bit of an excuse for an array

of interactive entertainment options. Or

games, as you call them. The lovely Vegas Showgirls are all set to distribute

dollar bills from the Bank of Elvis, which

can be used as currency in the casino featuring those Las Vegas staples, the roulette wheel and blackjack table. If

your ship comes in, winnings are paid in

drinks tokens. It‘s a win-win situation, unlike real gambling.

How fab. Anything else? Well, the Edinburgh club holds regular limbo dancing and hula hoop competitions,

with bottles of fizz for the champs. And the Vegas crew have their collective eye on west coast domination, so keep your

eyes peeled (and your safari suit pressed) for forthcoming events.
