Paintings by Nick Sargent Fri 7—Sat 22 Jul. Edinburgh-based artist and Duncan of Jordanstone graduate, Nick Sargent draws on his extensive textile background in this solo exhibition of new work. Sargent weaves, embroiders and stitches the canvas and then seals them with gesso or paint.
Sea Change Sat 8 Jul—Sat 30 Sep. Paintings by William McTaggart (1835—1910) and John Bellany (b1942), drawn from the City of Edinburgh’s fine art collection. Both artists, although separated by 100 years, share a fascination of the sea.

Photographs By Snowdon: A Retrospective Sat 8 J ul—Sat 30 Sep. The City Art Centre is the first gallery outside London to stage this major retrospective of photographs by Lord Snowdon. Born Antony Charles Robert Armstrong-Jones in 1930, he is best known for his portrait photography. Working for Vogue, Vanity Fair and Life, he also produced documentary work for The Sunday Times. Famous faces included in the show include the first 1957 official portrait of the Queen, Francis Bacon, Lucien Freud, David Hockney and John Bellany. See Frontlines.
Alphonse Mucha - Master Of Art Nouveau Sat 8 Jul—Sat 30 Sep. A major retrospective of the work of Czech artist Alphonse Mucha (1860—1939) whose work epitomised the Art Nouveau movement. The exhibition includes pastels, oils, drawings, jewellery and photography as well as decorative panels and poster art.
Richard Demarco — 70/2000: The Road To Meikle Seggie Sat 8 Jul—Sat 30 Sep. A celebration of the career of Edinburgh- based artist Richard Demarco on his 70th birthday. His career as a gallery director, entrepreneur and philosopher is illustrated with photographs from the Demarco Archive along with the work of over 70 artists including Joseph Beuys, Ian Hamilton Finlay and David Mach.

Formerly a 19th century orphanage, it houses a large collection of work by Eduardo Paolozzi, as well as outstanding works drawn from the National Galleries’ Dada and Surrealist collections, plus works by Giacometti, Picabia, Max Ernst and others.
