I Paul Cawley at Groucho St J udes. 9pm-midnight. Free. 16 Jul. Fortnightly. The man behind the Fenetik imprint and Psy Phi brings his breaks and beats to the swankiest style bar in town.
I R&B at Bar 10. 7pm—3am. Weekly. Relax with rhythm and blues cuts and take advantage of the generous drinks promos at this city centre style bar.

I Yang at Yang. 9pm—1am. Free. Weekly. Hip hop and house with Dribbler and A Burd Called Ger.

I Bennet's at Bennet’s. 11.30pm—3am. £3. Weekly. Tom plays tunes loved by twelve-year-old girls, plus some bangin’ handbag, to equally appreciative gay men. Funny old world.
I Bite at The Cathouse. 10.30pm—3am. Free entry before 11.30pm; £2 (£1.50) after. Weekly. A milder mix of indie and rock than you’ll find at the city’s premier rock venue on Fri or Sat.
I Club Tropicana at The Garage (Attic). 11pm—3am. £3 (£2). Weekly. Indie, both classic and contemporary, with a healthy dose of Britpop.
I Cocoyan at The Apartment. 11pm—3am. £4 (£3). Weekly. A new night of dancehall, R&B and soca-Latino fusion from Puppa Shango (Joints & Jams) and newcomer DJ Yaw.
I Flava at Trash. 10pm—3am. £6 (£5). 9 Jul only. Channel 4’s hip hop and R&B flagship comes to Glasgow for a full-on festival of music of black origin. The TV crews will be there, as will chart topping diva Jamelia and Soul II Soul’s Aitch B in a DJ capacity. Glasgow’s own R&B specialist Paul N’Jie will also take a turn on decks, and the start of the evening is turned over to four of the young hopefuls who’ve entered Flava’s DJ competition. See panel.
I Funk Sundays at Slave. 8pm-3am. £4 (£3). Weekly. House with Chicago tendencies from Andy Guest, plus live percussion courtesy of Andrew Horn.
I Hostage at Media. 10pm—late. £5 (£4). Weekly. Residents Derek Taylor and Steven McCreery of The Tunnel play across-the-board credible house sounds. I Liquid Cool at Babaza. 9pm—3am. £5. Weekly. A.J., Kris Keegan and Ian Thompson playing top-notch vocal garage and house to a club packed with hyper-hedonistic twentysomething revellers, all of whom seem to have forgotten that they have work in the morning. If quality tunes and glamorous antics are your bag, Suns at Babaza are unmissable.
I LilLo at Reds. 10pm—3am. £4 (£3). Weekly. Oscar (Mish Mash) and Harri (Subculture), sparring partners of old, join forces for some funky deep house. I Liquid Gold at Q. 1 m—3am. £5 (free before 11pm). Weekly. move their pre- club up a gear to create an alternative to Liquid Cool with a similarly hedonistic vibe. Harry B., Scott McMillan and Paul Traynor keep the soul-funk sounds flowing.
I Optlmo at Planet Peach. 11pm—3am. £5 (£4). After a super-charged run of Bank Holiday specials, things should quieten down at the Espacio. Of course, quiet in Optimo-speak means surging fag-funk tampering with cold-hearted death disco round at acid house’s, errn, house. You know it makes sense.
I Sun at Trash. 11pm—3am. £5 (£3). Weekly. House, garage and student classics from Jim Da Best, with drinks for £1 all night.
I Sunday at Strawberry Fields. 9pm—late. £15. Weekly. Fifteen nicker might seem a bit steep for a night down Strawberry Fields, but in addition to banging house anthems and saucy dancing girls, the bar is totally and utterly free. Much like a stomach pump on the NHS.

SUMMER SPECIAL Test
Glasgow: School of Art, Fri 7 Jul. After the success of their packaged depravity Birthday extravaganza last year, the Test collective are set to spice up the summer months with three special events, all featuring top flight lighting, serious alterations to the minimal Art School decor and video entertainment from Pointless Creations. The first event sees a brace of live acts alongside the international resident team of Dave Tarrida, Steve Glencross, and Shandy. Headlining the main room is The Hacker, appearing in Scotland for the first time. Also known as Michael Amato, the French techno artist has been causing a stir with his prolific release schedule on the highly-respected International DJ Gigolo series and the Test-affiliated Sativae label, as well as running his own up-and-coming imprint Good Life. Tresor stalwart Tobias Schmidt provides live support, bringing his high-octane experience to Glasgow after recent trips to Japan and Russia.
For those who need a breather from the relentless hard ‘n' heavy action upstairs, The Vic Bar is preparing itself for a Belfast hip hop
invasion. Chris Caul is perhaps the best
turntablist Northern Ireland has to offer. A previous joint winner of Radio 1’s Essential Mix with David Holmes and resident at both Mass in London and the legendary Bedlam night in his home town, Caul will be relocating to Glasgow later this year to launch a brand

breaks and beats, Phil Murray - Bedlam co-founder and Acetate regular - is also jumping on the ferry from the Emerald Isle after his previous successes providing downbeat alternatives to techno at the likes of Pure.

I Technique at The 13th Note Club (both floors). 11pm—3am. £2. Weekly. A new name, but the sounds stay the same: a quality selection of indie, ancient and modern, from DJ Gavin of Camera Obscura.
I Taboo at The Velvet Rooms. 11pm—3am. £5 (£3). Weekly. DMG provides the classic soul, funk and R&B. I Voyeurism at Archaos. 11pm—3am. £5 (£3). Weekly. A perv’s paradise, with peep- hole performances, non-specific fake shagging and a general atmosphere of muckiness. Oh, and there’s music too, with Mark Sherry and Paul Mendez spinning upfront, uplifting house in the main room, Naeem rocking downstairs with his hip hop selections and Paul Traynor and Naeem providing R&B cuts in the Skybar.

I Phat Dave at The Living Room. 9pm—11pm. Free. Weekly. Starting the week with ‘hedmuzik 4 beatfreakz’, which translates into English as hip hop, breaks, beats and the like.
I Playstation League at Bar Jedi. 9pm—midnight. Free. Weekly. For kids sore of thumb and pallid of complexion. A case of lager is up for grabs for the top
gun gamer, assuming you can drag yourselves away from the ‘station at home.

I Burn at The Apartment. 11pm—3am. Free for staff of any pub or club; £3 to everyone else. Weekly. A top party atmosphere guaranteed thanks to the thumping dance classics unleashed by Norm and Richard.
I The Monday Club at The Velvet Rooms. 11pm—3am. £3 (£2). Weekly. Chris Hesketh mixes up R&B, garage and house at this night. Entry is free to all shop, bar, restaurant and club staff, generously enough.
I Passionality at Planet Peach. 11.30pm—3am. £3 (£2 with flyer). Weekly. Gay night that invites you to ‘come get passionate’. Funnily enough, the musi ;, courtesy of DJ Andy (Bennet’s/Sadie’s), promises to be cheesy chart, upfront house and handbag.
I Speedracer at The Garage. 10.30pm—3am. £5 (£3). Weekly. Indie classics with the odd daft party tune thrown in for the usual crazy crowd.

I Dub Night at The Variety Bar. 8pm—midnight. Free. Weekly. Stevie Donaldson (Bar 10) playing, oddly enough,dub.
I Club Salsa Sabrosa at Havana Bar. 8pm—midnight. £4 (£3.50). Weekly. DJs Keith and Alexis provide you with a cool night of Latin tunes, with merengue and salsa classes from 8pm.
I Bar 10 at Bar 10. Weekly. A new chance for aspiring DJ talent to get noticed: every week three bedroom tumtablists spin their discs, the best being selected by the crowd, who then progress to the final, where DJs and promoters from various clubs grant the cream of the crop a chance to play at their venue or club.

One for the students, with the usual classics of academe downstairs thanks to Alan Ronald, plus some charging party tunes and a smattering of house upstairs from Scott Mackay of The Tunnel. Further proof that Tuesdays are the new Thursdays.

I Shooting Stars at The Garage. llpm—3am. £4 (£3). Weekly. Gerry and Iain keep the drunk kids happy with charty house andémghits. I The Shimmy In at Bennet’s. 11.30pm—3am. £3 (£1.50). A straightish and studenty night at the gay venue, with Raymond Davren maintaining the party atmosphere.
I Slave Boy Tuesday at Slave. 10pm—3am. £3 (£2). Weekly. Hostess Ms Mi-Mi-Martini and resident Jon Fraser with handbag and hardbag albums at the club’s gay night.
