take care of Rt-LB business at the likes of Archaos arid Babaza, most nights at Riiytl'ir‘i'i 'ii' Blues have added attractions.
Don't be so vague. What exactly are 'added attractions'? Recent events have seen, for example, Glasgow’s own l'iomegrown diva, Lisa McColgan,
famed for appearances at Sound-
presence and classy performances from her days as vocalist with the rising stars of breakbeat-funk, Engine.

things British and soulful, Soul II Soul, has also moved the crowd. A brace of
- PAs and guests are lined up for the summer months, too.
Like who? First up is DJ S. Boogie, a stalwart of the London RBB scene, on Thursday 22 June. The week after sees The Blakkarhyrriez Crew dishing out some live action alongside DJ X-Jamz. Sounds like value for money. Anything else we should know? In a break from the veritable frenzy of guest acts, Rhythm ’n’ Blues is set to take a breather and give the punters a chance to set the music policy. Since the start of May, request cards have been available to everyone through the door, and Thursday 6 July is the first 'Request Line' night, featuring the most popuiar crowd selections. I Syntax at Bar Jedi. 9pm—midnight. Free. Weekly. Nik Craig of Syntax is joined by DJ Trace (Maddog) fora night of chilled-out electro, filter-heavy disco and techy house.

I Big Daddy at The 13th Note Club. 9pm—3am. £4 (£3). Weekly. Funk and jazz from Graham and Daniel, except they call it buttcrack beats, ring-stinging funk and Nagasaki noodlings. Quite.

I Buddasole at Club Budda. 11pm—3am. £5. Weekly. Solemusic head honcho Stevie Middleton with seriously high calibre soulful house and garage. For music lovers.
I Bump 'N' Hustle at Babaza. 6pm—3am (DJs from 11pm). Free before 11pm; £5 after. Weekly. Paul Traynor and Jamie Strang ofArchaos fame with fine and funky R&B cuts, hip hop and some classic soul and funk thrown in to keep the capacity crowd going. Arrive early to avoid disappointment, as this is one of the busiest regular Friday nigltters around.

I The Cathouse at The Cathouse. 10.30pm—3am. £4 (£3); £1 before 11pm. Weekly. Rock, grunge, indie and a dash of breakbeat across three floors at Glasgow’s top venue for rockers and alternateens.
I Degree Show Party at The Glasgow School ofArt. 6pm-late. Free. 23 Jun only. Spend the afternoon checking out the art on show around the campus, then join the celebrations. This year, there’s a street party with a live samba band and an eclectic selection of the cream of Glasgow DJ talent, including Art School regulars like Andy Divine and the Freek Menoovers turntable crew. Last year, 3000 folk passed through, and the atmosphere was super-charged.

I Goodfoot at The Bedsit. 10pm—2am. £5. 7 Jul. Fortnightly. Peerless Northern action from Scott Brown and the lads. featuring stomping classics, rarities and the occasional funk-flavoured cut. Continue your obsession with wilfully obscure soul sounds, or find out exactly why old blokes from Stockport will re- mortgage their homes to purchase a 7m sin rle.
I tr8 Up at Slave. 10pm—3am. £5 (£3). Weekly. Lovejoy and Robin with bouncing cuts ranging from vocal to hard house. Expect maximum silliness on 30 Jun, when Slave turns into lbiza Beach for a one-off foam party, with George Bowie at the decks. The press release promises ‘high powered canons’, so it won’t have that overflowing bath vibe common to your average foamathon. Discounted entry for anyone daft enough to venture out in beach wear during the Scottish ‘summer’.

The beat-based extravaganza continues with Krash Slaughta joined by the excellent breakbeat funkateers, Dirty Beatniks, who make high energy tracks for Wall of Sound that never quite slip into daftness. I Mystee at Rocksy’s Basement. Next date 21 Jul. Monthly.
I Polo Lounge at The Polo Lounge. 11pm—3am. £5. Weekly. Michelle provides a loose mix of house and indie classics downstairs, while Andy rocks the Trophy Room with 80s and 90s hits at this gay venue.
I Pressure at The Arches. 11pm—3am. £8. 30 Jun. Monthly. Surprise, surprise, it’s another belter of a night from the Slam gang. This month sees Stuart and Orde welcoming Cajmere (a.k.a. Green Velvet) behind the decks. The cherry on top comes in the form of Terry Farley and Pete Heller, two of the finest house merchants in the country.

I Relief at The Arches. 11pm-3am. £8 (£6). Weekly. Lawrence Hughes and Silicone Soul are manning the fort without the benefit of guests this fortnight, but their sleek house manoeuvres are well worth checking out whether a big name is on hand or not.
I Salsa Sabrosa at Strathclyde University Student Union. 9.30pm—3am. £4 (£3). Weekly. Keith, Alexis and Geo D. with the best in merengue, salsa and all things Latin. Entry includes dance classes at the start of the night.
I Soulsa at Ad-Lib. 9pm—3am. £3. Weekly. Smooth disco courtesy of Andy Unger, Rodger, Pete Murphy and Wayne Dixon, who are keen to show that disco doesn’t just mean Daft Punk and their filter-happy peers. preferring instead the genuine classics the revivalists sample and, well, rip off.
I Tangent at Alaska. 11pm—3am. £5. Weekly. The Tangent duo of A-Man and Panic have settled in at Alaska nicely with their blend of funky, functional house.

A new night featuring pumping house action from The Tunnel’s Colin 'I‘evendale and Lisa Littlewood, with more mellow house and disco action in room two from Grahame and Keith Piper. I Traxx at Planet Peach. 10.30pm—3am. £8 (£6). 23 Jun only. Traxx welcome one of the best DJs in the world . . . ever this month. Booking Harvey is the closest a promoter can get to atmosphere in a
. bottle, and judging by past appearances at
Tangent and Optimo, this should go off like a box of fireworks in a gunpowder factory. Essential.

Dema and Nice, core members of the super-skilled Freek Menoovers crew, rock the bar with turntablist hip hop while Kushi provides deep house beats in the back room. 23 Jun is the date for your diary, as DJ Ease from the superb Nightmares on Wax is limbering up for a rare solo excursion behind the 1210s.
