ON YOUR DOORSTEP Eve THE GLASGOW TOUR

rything you ever wanted to know about

You've seen them about town, you’ve maybe even sent your visiting relatives on them but you may not have been on them yourself 'them’ being The Glasgow

Tour Buses.

It’d be difficult to miss them as these buses are a vivid red and sport lots of bright images of the city’s landmarks. They are also open topped a brave move given the Scottish weather and are normally brimming full of tourists. Run by the Glasgow company Scotguide Tourist Services, the tours take you all over Glasgow from Glasgow Cathedral and the Barras to Byres Road and The Tall Ship at Glasgow Harbour. Depending on your stamina you can follow one of two routes, as the tour is divided into alternative options. The shorter blue route, which lasts 30 minutes, takes you towards the East side of the city, while the red route, 40 minutes long, takes you through the centre and over to the West End.

Hop on the bus at any one of the seventeen stops around the city and hop off again at any stop along the way to check out the various sights, shops and pubs. Your tour guide talks you through the landmarks telling snippets of local history, pointing out the places of architectural interest and mixing it all up with a hint of

folklore and humour.

So if you have ever wondered why Sauchiehall Street has such a stupid name, how Glasgow became Glasgow, who George Square is named after or where the Glasgow Statue of Liberty is, then this is the tour to be on. It mixes both the old and the new and tells you things about Glasgow that even your Granny probably doesn't know. Watch out for their new buses about town from the end of May which will take you on architectural tours of the greatest Victorian city in the world that's Glasgow in case you were wondering.
