EDINBURGH SATURDAYS: CLUBS continued
I Club Oxygen at Studio 24. 10pm—3am. £10 before midnight; £13 after. 25 Mar. Monthly. Griff Manumission guests at this fur and feathers themed party. Expect lots of party and hard house and promoters who make an effort, although they would want to at that door price. Pre-club is at Cafe Habana (Greenside Place) with a shuttle running every fifteen minutes.
I Digital at The Venue. 10.30pm—3am. £6. 18 Mar. Fortnightly. Nice and Idle, as in Howard Marks’s Mr Nice and Billy Idle (Manumission) team up to play techno with spoken word (seriously) on the main floor. J. Cammera and Mitchell reside.
I Disco Inferno at The Venue (top floor). 10.30pm—3am. £7 (£6 members; £5 in fancy dress). 18 Mar. Fortnightly. The promoters claim (as they are want to do) that this club offers ‘delerious disco, fired up funk and sanctified soul’. Granted, but it also offers a top night out for those willing to have a bit of a laugh. It’s well worth your while to don some bad 70$ gear and get into the swing of things, baby. I Diva at The Liquid Room. 11am-4am. £6 (£5). 18 Mar. Monthly. After a little bit of a shake up for the Room ’5 Saturday night’s, Diva is now monthly. Yogi Haughton is still residing with his sublime mix of disco and house, and we still expect a fine nights audio entertainment from everyone ’5 fave Mancunian, who first hit our clubs in the late 70$. Gosh Yogi, some of us weren’t even walking then!
I The Egg at The Wee Red Bar. llpm—3am. £4 (£3.50). Weekly. A mix of indie, 60$ garage, northern soul, ska, soundtracks and all things groovy at this ever popular Art College student union.
I Eye Candy at Club Mercado. 11pm—3am. £10 (£8; £6 for the outrageously dressed). 18 Mar. Fortnightly. Great big glam house numbers at this suitably glam venue. Lots of fun.
I Fiesta Latina at Teviot Row. 9.30pm—2am. £4.50 (£3.50). 18 Mar. Monthly. Claiming to be ‘Edinburgh’s longest established, most popular event’, after eight years they certainly must be doing something right. It’s a salsa — and meregue, and Latin, and mambo — thing, with free dance classes from 9.30pm with the Salsa Angels for those that need a little help to shake their bon-bon.
I Fire Island at Wilkie House. 10.30pm—3am. £5 before 11pm; £10 (£7 for costumes and fetishwear) after. 25 Mar. Monthly. Following the lead from their punters, they say, the Fire Island lot are encouraging everyone else to come along in ‘crazy, wacky or even horny fetish gear’ by dropping the cover charge a wee bit. Aside from the human decor, you can catch Chris Boume doing a four hour set on three decks, with support from Daz Davies.
I Futuristica at La Belle Angele. 10.30pm—3am. £7. 18 Mar. Fortnightly. Blowing any cooler than thou hip hop stereotypes out of the water, Jonze D’s Apricot Jam Show is easily one of the best gigs that you’ll catch. It’s a hip hop cabaret thing, and the band is a firm fave with promoter and resident Jo Malik. Not to be missed, my children.
I Headspin at The Bongo Club. Monthly. Next date 8 Apr.
I The Jazz Joint at The Jazz Joint. 10pm-3am. £5—£7. Weekly. 18 Mar sees The Groovediggaz, and 25 Mar Melting Pot play at this extremely popular jazz, er, joint.
I Joy at Wilkie House. Monthly. Next date 1 Apr.
I Jungle Magic at the Liquid Room. Monthly. Next date 8 Apr with Nicky Blackmarket at MC Bassman.

I The Liuard Lounge at La Belle Angele. 10pm—3am. £7 (£6). 25 Mar. Fortnightly. It’s a DJ showdown tonight at Glasgow’s DJ Sace squares up to residents Joseph Malik and Eh?Wun! A great mix of hip hop, soul, jazz, and other delicious sounds.
I Logic at The Vaults. 10.30pm—3am. £10

ROSTER SHAKE UP
The Liquid Room
See listings for individual club details. The Liquid Room in Edinburgh has revamped its Saturday night line up with the launch of three new monthly club nights. One of the capital's finer venues, it has been somewhat underused in recent years. Venue manager Sarah David wants to expand the options available to discerning clubgoers in Edinburgh by providing four monthly nights with their own distinctive sound and decor, featuring some of the finest local DJs in residency while bringing in quality guests.
The new nights are merely the beginning as Sarah has huge plans for the venue, which at the end of this year will expand to a potential
