Essential nights out i Edinburgh this fortnight

Chimera So impressed by the amount of work that has gone into this charity do that we are pulling them forward an issue into our prestigious (well, almost) Hit list. The line up is a mini who’s who of Edinburgh, there’ll be massages and aromatherapy for gratis, and all sorts of weird and wonderful freebies, as well as the warm fuzzy feeling you’ll get after giving some of you hard earned moolah to a worthy cause. The Vaults, Fri 31 Mar

Nomad Our constant and unfailing quest to seek out the best nights in the capital has shone light onto the club Nomad. Each month they bring someone a little different to the hallowed halls of Wilkie, someone who will bestow their mighty talent to the masses. This month: Matthew B of Layo & Bushwackal, and we are greatly pleased for you all. Wilkie House, Fri 17 Mar.

Boogie Mo Dynamo We're not too sure about their claim that they are entitled to celebrate their third birthday, as the club's run in fits and starts . . . but bugger it, any excuse for a knees up, so what can we get you at the bar? The smart party people will get there early doors as it will be ramma-jamma with colourful party shirts a 90-90. Wreckage, one of the original 015 and promoters, will be flying in from Amsterdam to join Smack and Believe, while Maggie (who has gorgeous hair, by the way) & Alan Joy will be in the Visitation Room. As essential as they get. The Bongo Club, Sat 25 Mar.

Futuristica Music shock: hip hop can be a laugh! I know, it's a strange concept, but you’ll have it tattooed on your forehead once you experience Jonzi D's Apricot Jam Show. It's what hip hop cabaret would be like, if there was such a thing. Actually, there must be now. Wah-hay, The List invents a new genre. Move over trance-pop, this is the sound of the summer, or something. La Belle Ange/e, Fri 78 Mar. Tribal Funktion George T, aka the Plastic Avengers, lays on a funky-assed four hour set to celebrate his forthcoming debut long player Space Graffiti. Aside from the enormous talent Mr T has as both a DJ and producer, he is easily the coolest bloke in the Clubland and we think he’s fab. Congratulations. The Venue, Sat Mar 25.

16—30 Mar 2000 THE LIST 75
