Another unnamed evening at Yang. but this time the usual house shenanigans have been put to one side to make room for some indie action. Continuing the tradition established over the last couple of years, Trash plays host to an old school legend tonight in the form of Kool Herc. father of the breakbeat. 1f past appearances by the likes of Grandmaster Flash and Africa Bambatta are anything to go by. the place will be packed to the rafters with grinning hip hop kids high on hearing a hero. I Shag Tag at Archaos. llpm—3am. £4 (£3). Weekly. Insanely successful night based on a complex numerical flirting system: everyone gets a number upon entry,

then. if someone catches your eye. you write their number on the board next to your own. with the idea being that they then rush

up to you and get all lewd. The lady or gent with the most numbers gets a free bottle of champers. Quite icky, really. but the kids love it, since it‘s less hassle than the old eye-contact, crap chat-up line method traditionally favoured at venues of this sort. Music wise, it’s banging house and trance in the main room and across the board ‘madness' from CJ downstairs.
