New Glasgow clubs Three new clubs are set to open in Glasgow in the forthcoming weeks: Destiny, Life at The Corinthian and Media.
Destiny is the latest development from” the First Leisure Corporation who have pumped £5 million into the Cambridge Street site which opens to the public on Sat 27 Nov. The club is on two levels with seven themed bars plus a VIP enclosure with views over the whole development and will be open six nights a week. Tuesdays will be a student night called 'Shark', Wednesdays over 285, Thursdays students, Fridays over 19s, Saturdays over 205 and Sundays their big name guest night. First Leisure are the company behind Amadeus in Aberdeen and Eros/Elite in Edinburgh.
On the same night The Corinthian opens fully for the first time and will include three bars, a restaurant, a private members club and their club Life. The Corinthian is the latest project from the 61 group who also own Archaos, Babaza, The Polo Lounge and more. and is aimed at 'those of us who are growing out of the club scene, but still want late night entertainment and good tunes,’ they say. Mark Rob from the media-tastic Friday Buff Club is confirmed for the Thursdays, while other nights will see a mix of 'upbeat soul and funk blended with the best contemporary tracks.’
Club number three, Media, opens on Sat 4 Dec on the site of the former Bom club on Renfield Street, and again is looking towards an older set who want ’a nice safe place to go,’ says owner Billy Peterkin, formerly of the Nile Bar. (Rory Weller)
