A hit at this year’s Edinburgh Festival Fringe, The Young Vic Theatre Company return to Scotland to give the west coast a taste of their Middle Eastern magic. Fusing dance, puppetry, live music and a good dose of humour, this acclaimed version of the ancient tale of Shahrazad and her 1001 intriguing stories is definitely not just for the kids.

Following the success of Seizer, Boilerhouse Theatre Company team up once again with playwright Spencer Hazel for a modern performance piece. Set in a circus ring where the past is constantly repeating itself, the piece explores the gap between Scotland’s national identity and the reality of living here.

The Happiest Day Of My Life Fri 12 & Sat 13 Nov. 7.30pm. £7.50—£18 (£5.50-£15). Over 185 only. Still a talking point four years after their 1995 show EnterAchilles, DV8 Physical Theatre make a very welcome return to the Festival Theatre. Mixing the everyday with the absurd, this new show uses theatre, movement and film footage to explore the quest for love.

Cider With Rosie Tue 16—Fri 19 Nov. 7.30pm. £5 (£2-£3). The second of two productions by Second Year students at Queen Margaret University College secs Laurie Lee’s infamous novel brought to the stage. Adapted by James Roose- Evans, the play recounts Lee’s boyhood in a small Cotswold village.
