Online Producer (Movies)

Salary according to experience. Contract until March 2000 initially. Glasgow.

BBC Online is one of the most significant players in the multimedia world and Europe's most visited content site. BBC Scotland produces sites for a range of our online brands from Fully Booked to Feeling Healthy and our portfolio is expanding rapidly.

We currently need a Producer to join the team working specifically on our new Movies site.You will have to be steeped in the world of cinema with a contacts book to prove it and have die creativity to use the web to bring alive what's on. what’s coming up. who's who and what goes on behind the scenes. You will be a senior member of the team wid'i sole responsibility for the site so must have substantial experience of producing or writing for television. radio or the press. be able to write creatively and accurately for the web and be able to interpret briefs and liaise with our commissioners. You will also be expected to help us deveIOp and extend our portfolio by spotting opportunities and selling ideas to our commissioners.

Technical skills are not essential as you will work closely with our designers. but you will have to be an enthusiastic Internet user and have an understanding of what makes a good web site. Ref. 42006lLN

As our portfolio expands. we are likely to have short- term vacancies with our Online team over the next few months for experienced Producers and Researchers who

can work across a range of output Contracts may vary from a few weeks to a few months with the potential for longer term work but all require proven journalistic or broadcast experience at the appropriate level. the ability to write for the web and specialist knowledge of. or proven interest in. one of the following areas: Childrens. Films. Health. Leisure.

The Fred MacAulay show goes from strength to strength as one of BBC Radio Scotland’s key strands. Monday toThursday mornings Fred presents an entertaining blend of celebrity interviews and topical features with guests drawn from the fields of journalism. popular culture and show-business.We’ve also taken the show to various outside broadcasts including Paris and even a shop window in Edinburgh - NewYork is currently being planned.

We are now looking for two creative and energetic researchers to join this hard-working production team. You will be able to show a track record in Radio with experience of at least one of the following areas:

I booking celebrity guests. dealing with agents and PR companies. Knowing when to say “no” and when never to take “no” for an answer

I journalistic experience - knowing how to find a new angle in a story and how to make that story relevant to a Scottish audience

I craft skills in short feature production.You will have produced or commissioned short packages from freelance reporters. be able to suggest potential subjects and contributors and offer guidance on pacing. mixing and editing audio material.
