SINGLES " Popped: ‘Pool Boona' (liber Disko) '
This local stomper was made to be - screamed across stacks in clubs nationwide. Definite crowd pleaser, damned if.you don't end up singing la-la- la as well. The flipside holds Psyko Milky‘s ‘lgnition' which is a slightly more chilled affair, some great disco bits and sampled pieces provide the right ingredients. Excellent stuff. (SB)
Kayashl: ‘Remorse' (Platoon)
Much awaited local release, this piece of plastic houses two quality trance-y tunes,
‘Remorse' and on the flipside 'Regression‘.
(58)
Club 69 Feat. Suzanne Palmer: ‘Alright’ (Twisted UK)
A cheeky anthem waiting to happen, it features whiny vocals and a catchy riff which will have girls dancing around their handbags nationwide. (A8)
House Of Prince Feat. Oezleni: ’Perfect Love‘ (Twisted UK)
A thumper of a bass drum. some chiming bells and sensual vocals are the right ingredients which will make this house track a huuuge hit. (A8)
Adamslti's Thing: ‘intravenous Venus’ (211' Records)
My favourite tune for the week. Twangy vocals over a dark headz mix and also a more upbeat guitar-y version will remind you exactly what a brilliant song sounds like. There have been too few recently. (A8)
Gent 2: ‘Destlny’ (Locked 0n)
Stepped up garage, getting a release at last, with a neat vocal treatment on the main mix. Also a couple of jazz-tinged remixes from New Horizons and Rhythm Masters which slap those b-lines in, big and dark. (TD)
ALBUMS
Future Loop Foundation: ‘Conditions For Living' (Planet Dog)
A strong showing on the drum 'n' bass tip, with Mark Barrott working from hard- stepping floor fillers like ’Conditions For Living' and ‘Remote Viewing’ to the more ambient soundscapes oi ‘Moog Rd’. Sometimes a bit obvious on the programming front. but otherwise ever» inventive. (T D)
Neotropic: ‘Mr Brubakers Strawberry Alarm Clock‘ (Ninja Tune)
For a few minute, Riz Maslen semms to be
providing an object lesson in ambient nurdling. Then she drops a reverberating b-line, stabs in an acid break, blasts out a
B-movie theme tune and sets her sights on
a Sunday morning soundtrack. Scarey stuff. (T D)
Various: ‘Sound Of The Hoover 2’ (Truelove)
A thrilling double mix CD from John Truelove for those who like their house hard, their trance banging and to hear a few old-school rave anthems pumping up
the mix. intelligently done, too with nary a
dull moment. (T D)
Tin Star: 'The Thrill Kisser' (V2)
At its best, on Disconnected Child‘. this drops somewhere between John Foxx's ‘ songs and Underworlds beats. And with plenty of lush pomp rockery and down- tempo winsomeness it's got strong cross- over potential. What you might call Sequencer Rock. (T D)
