SINGLES Reachout: 'Everything 0 Knew’ (0h Eye) Two refreshing hip hop tunes. One side holds the summery title track, a simple, ear-pleasing tune; on the flip 'Just Nothing Eh!‘ could have done with some ruffer vocals to contrast with the airy hip hop melody. A nice one. (AB) Spaceiunk: 'We Came In Peace' (Low Pressings) Debut tune from the very talented Murray Richardson. Beautiful deep house, just a little funky and the best overall sound we have heard in a while. A must have. (58) Eddie Amador: 'House Music' (Puklta) Finally out on general release after what seems like years, Amador’s house still sounding awesome. ’House music/It's a spiritual thing' - too right, matey. (RW) MfON: ‘Ron Hardy's Resurrection’ (Soma) New addition to the Soma stable on a double deep funky Chicago house tip. A- side is a spirited vocal tribute to the master, and there are two fazed grooves on the flip. (RW) 01 Disco: ‘Stamp Your Feet' (east west) Criminal that this disco-tech EP didn't get a full commercial release earlier as it's been a circuit DJ must for ages. Burger Queen takes the original a bit further into more of an electro-scratch workout. (RW) Sundance: ‘Here Comes The Funk' (Fen3tik) First release from new Glasgow label with Michael Hunter bringing us a complex EP with lush dubby tracks to funk and his trademark soul drum 'n’ bass. which we heard on Bukem's Earth 1. (RW) DJ Dexter: "The Chill Fingers EP' (SWR) Local boy DJ Dexter’s long-awaited EP contains five funky grooves guaranteed to make your head nod. The repetitive but catchy ‘BTFW’ stands out on this raw Chicago house pressing. (AB) ALBUMS Dub Pistols: 'Pistol Blank' (Concrete) You already know the form of this album from the first single 'Unique Freak'. The new single ’Cyclone' manages to show some very funky grooves without losing its cool; whilst 'Anarchy' is jungle-core at its darkest. As an album however can’t categorise, won't categorise! Ahh, bliss. (SB) Yoshinori Sunahara: "Take Off And Landing' (Bungalow) Categorised as 'lounge-core techno' and ’steel drum 'n’ bass (some people need to get out a lot more) this is entirely out on its own. Stunning and essential as an album: listen to it as a whole. (58) B-Boys Revenge: 'History In The Making' (X Treme) Compilation of old and new skool b-boy and hip hop anthems mixed by the Scratch Perverts. Features golden classics from the likes of Run DMC, The Incredible Bongo Band, tracks from the Wildstyle film and up-to-date masterpieces from The Bronx Dogs and Z Roc Ski and Stieber twins. Quality entertainment. (RW) Reviewers this issue: Simone Baird, Andrew Bezeruk and Rory Weller:
