Harmonie Hannigan. 22. student: 'Club 69 is a lovely evening'

Woodlands Road, Glasgow at 10.30pm, making the mission to Paisley a hassle- free experience for clubbers. Indeed, many devotees of the club rate the bus trip there as one of Club 69‘s attractions. Says one: 'lt's fun getting out of Glasgow for the night and there is a really good atmosphere on the bus going there.’

Once inside the club, you will be struck by the venue’s pleasingly laid-back feel. Club 69's location in the basement of an lndian restaurant works in the night's favour. The room's relative smallness makes for an intimate, underground atmosphere and only the odd waiter collecting glasses intrudes upon the clientele. This makes a nice contrast to Glasgow clubs where intrusive door searches and rude security staff can blight events.

'We like the general vibe here, and we’ve got no plans to move,‘ says DJ and

organiser Martin.

The low ceiling room is decked out with parachutes and white sheeting, and the walls are lined with sofas chatting with your mates at Club 69 is just as alluring

as having a boogie.

Once up dancing though, you will notice that no one is pushing or shoving on the dance floor. The club is well ventilated and not over packed with punters, meaning that there are no queues for drinks or for the bathroom.

The broad spectrum of music played ranges from a brilliant electroorientated warm-up to full scale techno frenzy in the last hour. The club finishes at 2.30am so you aren’t left with that 'I'm bored and want to go home' feeling.

The vibe throughout the night is friendly and although there is obviously a strong contingent of regulars present, the club is by no means cliquey. Martin says: ‘Some people think we're exclusive, but that's totally wrong. There is a membership scheme, but anyone can join it by sending an sae and a photo to the Rub A Dub shop. Basically if anyone's cool, they’ll get in.’ (Sarah Lowndes)
