not Byers delivers the tact: on the hard-Ian or heavy heats.

I lane Tony De Vit Is that his real name then? ’Fraid so.

I Age Old enough to know better. I lion old’s that then? He’s been a DJ for twenty years.

I That's a long thne Exactly. This man deserves respect.

I Just tor playing someone else’s records? Well. he is rather good at It.

I HOW come? Apart from DJing for .two decades, he’s been resident at London’s infamous after-hours gay night Trade.

I What else does he do? Runs his own label Jump Wax. plays across the world. makes records and remixes.

I All very well, but what kind of music does he play? Hard, hard. hard beats. Some might call it ‘campcore’.

I That doesn’t tell us much When De Vit is on the decks. things tend to pick up dramatically. His set usually straddles a teeth-rattling line between fast house. techno. nu-NRG and hardcore. It’s a relentless. pounding maelstrom of fast, heavy beats and long crowd-pleasing snare rolls. It’s almost like rave. Very scary stuff. Some people find it exhilarating though, sexy even. Anybody that’s witnessed the wall- to-wall sex show that is Trade will say the same.

I So what makes hlni so speclal? He has that special ability to change a club’s atmosphere instantly. No matter how hard the warm up DJ has been. you can bet De Vit is ten times harder. So hard in fact that sometimes you have to just stand there and laugh.

I Sounds terrllile If you like it harder than extremely hard, De Vit's yer man.
