Using the scapegoat character of the ‘Mapplethorpe Donkey" Lisa Wesley traces each individual’s problems back to the common source of upbringing. social expectations and stereotyping.

Gag Sun 3 Nov. 3pm. Boyish performance ensemble Pants combine a bewildering mix of wrestling. hypnotism. striptease and Simon and Garfunkel for this show about five shuffling. bickering characters ill a lodging house.
Basket Case Sun 3 Nov. Spill. Denise Bowler plays one woman with four characters ill her head ill this solo show
written and directed by Sarah Tutt — formerly of the award-winning Dog's ln Honey.
Cast Sat 2 Nov. 2pm. Performance installation by Emma Hewitt featuring four rooms and seven characters who live in terror and longing for each other. Their stories are told on video using disjointed images which drift in and out of the interference on TV screens.
Subject Matter Sun 3 Nov. 2.30—6.30pm. A show with two stars. both of which are melting blocks of ice. One block is helped on its way by a blowtorch and the other is left to its own. more slowly melting devices. For those in the know. it's a time- based auto-destructive installation/performance. Projected texts of Gustav Metzger's Maiiifestos 0n Auto- Destrtrctive Art should give some idea of what all the fuss is about.
Existing In The Frame Sun 3 Nov. 2.30-7.30pm. Interactive installation/performance by Darren Dutton and Ellie Houchen with Polaroid photography as its central theme. Also featured is a collection of unknown photographs used to trace the legacies of forgotten generations.

Beatty has just published his first novel White Boy Shuffle in the States; Moore made history by appearing at the famous Apollo Theatre for five consecutive weeks; and Read has worked with Toni Morrison.
