I SPORTS PHOTOGRAPHY has become something of an arttorm in itself, as can be seen in the exhibition of winning entries from this year’s Tennents Sports Photography Awards, showing in Edinburgh this month. Among the top shots on display is ‘Stepping Stones’ (above) by Ian Buthertord of The Scotsman, which won Best Sports Picture. The exhibition is at the 8er Shopping Centre from 7—13 October, Meadowbanlt Sports Centre from 14-27 October and the Commonwealth Pool from
28 October-3 November.

I Alfred Ounhill Cup The Scots —- led by Europe's top golfer, Colin Montgomerie - are aiming to retain the trophy they won for the first time last year, though hard-pushed is not the phrase. Six of the world’s top twelve players will be among the teams represented this year.
