WEEK- BACK FROM THE RAVE
The stereotypical image oi glassy- eyed, white glove-wearing ravers waving glow sticks at lie: is set to become a thing oi the past with the introduction oi an increasingly diverse musical policy at Scotland’s leading large-scale dance event.
This summer’s lie: at lngliston - liez V - pulls together a line-up that breaks with the hardcore-or-nothing image once and ior all. Alongside the usual ‘Tartan techno’ acts such as 0- Tex and CH and iamiliar hardcore liez 01s Lenny Dee and Tom Wilson are artists irom across the dance- music spectrum, including house, garage, trance and iungle 0Js.
Bez promoter Paul Ludiord explains: ‘We’ve always explored diiierent iorms oi music at liez - two years ago we had Ritchie llawtin playing alongside Laurent Garnier and liobert Leiner so it’s not as it we’ve just decided to experiment this time round.’
ludiord admits to being slightly worried that some oi liez’s hardcore iollowing might be disappointed at the line-up. ‘I know it’s a huge risk but I like to think that people have it in them to listen to diiierent iorms oi music,’ he says. ‘We could have kept it as just rave but it’s time to bring in

On the night the twelve-hour dance- irenzy will see American techno artists Kevin Saunderson and Juan Atkins play alongside bouncy Scottish 0Js like Marc Smith and Scott Brown, while hardcore king lenny 0ee will battle ior your attention with U.) Bukem and Kemistry and Storm. Other new elements include a dedicated house and garage tent. To bolster this new-look bigger, brighter liez, Ludiord has introduced a grand total oi iive stages and pushed the capacity up to a mammoth 25,000.
