Applicants should have a visual arts

background: degree or equivalent in visual arts specialism and/or minimum 3 years experience working in a visual arts related field. This experience should ideally encompass working practice, administration and working within an allocated budget.

Applicants would be expected to have a knowledge of contemporary arts practice, including public and environmental areas.

Expereince in a community related or locally based visual arts project would be advantageous.

The Visual Arts Officer would have knowledge of art education, commissioning designers and installations.

Assistant Curator East Asian Collections

The National Museums of Scotland are seeking a (Zurator Grade (E to assist with a major project for a new permanent gallery of Fast Asian Art. This is a period appointment for IR months.

The postholder will be responsible to the (Iumtor of Fast Asian Art in the History and Applied Art Department. Duties will involve curatorial assistance for the collections from (Ihina. japan and Korea. including collating object information. drafting text. handling and packaging objects. dealing with enquiries and supervising visitors. The job is physically demanding.

( Iandidates should have a relevant dtgree. Knowledge of (Ihinese and/orjapanese would be an advantage. Neat handwriting. word processing and good communication skills are essential.

Starting salary between .tll).()()() and LI .2,()()() according to qualifications and experience with annual increases subject to level of performance.

in Edinburgh you will play a major role in developing and marketing arts tourism activities at national, regional and local levels.

We require a creative, self-motivated person with a sound practical knowledge of both the arts and tourism in Scotland, a track record in project work, excellent communication and interpersonal skills. There will be considerable travel throughout Scotland and a full current driving licence is essential.

Jointly funded by Scottish Tourist Board, Scottish Arts Council, Highlands and Islands Enterprise, Scottish Enterprise and Scottish Museums Council, with input from other related agencies, the post is for an initial period of two years.
