Canvassing the Clyde: Stanley Spencer and the Shipyards Until 7 Aug. Another showing of Spencer‘s large oils which he produced during World War 11. As well as the Gallery‘s collection. a number have been lent by the Imperial War Museum. Modern Art From the Collection New permanent display. David Hockney. Bridget Riley. Alan Davie. Jasper Johns. Bruce McLean and Eduardo Paolozzi are featured in an exhibition of Pop Art and work inspired by the heady 60s.

As part of a city-wide project. the artist will show the Dead Swiss series. an exhibition of photographs, boxes and sculptural lights which are linked by a list of people who died in one canton in Switzerland in 1991.

Estelle Until 32 Jun. Work by one of the participants of an exchange project between Projectability and CREAMH; the Creativity and Mental Handicap workshop in Belgium. The only surviving medieval house in Glasgow. built in 1471. Period room displays range from 1500 to 1918.
I OUEEN’S PARK SYNAGOGUE Falloch Road. Battlefield. 632 1743. Open Sun 2~5pm. Worth visiting to see 22 pictorial stained glass windows by John K. Clark based on the symbolism of Jewish festivals.
I SCOTLAND STREET SCHOOL MUSEUM 225 Scotland Street. 429 1202. Mon—Sat 10am—5pm; Sun 2—5pm. Cafe. [D]. Designed by Charles Rennie Mackintosh and now home to archive material on education in Scotland from 1872 onwards. Reconstructed classrooms give a flavour of Victorian. Edwardian. World War 11 and 1960s schooldays.

I CITY ART CENTRE Market Street. 225 2424. Mon—Sat 10am—5pm. Cafe. Worlds in a Box Until 16 Jul. Experimentation with art in boxes was first explored by the Surrealists in the 1920s. This exhibition traces the art form’s development from then until the present day with pieces by Marcel Duchamp. Yoko Ono and Claes Oldenburg.
The Sum of All Parts Until 7 Jul. Eight young artists including Clare Barclay. Jim Buckley and Gillian Curran take part in an exciting group show of three-dimensional work.
SOS Prints Until 2 Jul. A selection from the City’s fine art collection. with a range of groovy works from artists such as Henry Moore and Frank Auerbach.
