I Livingston Forum may well have bitten the dust as an all-night venue. thanks to several new laws brought into effect by recent licensing changes. Alcohol is no longer going to be available in the VIP lounge. which means that bands which have an alcohol clause in their contracts (almost all of them) will more than likely refuse to play. Also a new law states that only
one security company will
be allowed to work on a
3 night. which means that
bands with their own ! security will have to carefully consider making an appearance.
I Festival Clubs Festival time comes around again. E sending Edinburgh 1 clubland once more into a 1 full frontal assault of 1 national attention. busy i nights and long frustrating l queues. New things happening are few and far 1 between; the Vaults is
once again launching
itself as a club venue with several new nights (see listings). Cltib Alpha starts up at the Subway
(see listings) and the Pelican gets back its late licence with DJ Simon
Pitts providing free
musical entertainment
until 3am. A welcome return for a few old favourites. the first of which is bound to please
all you Mambisto maniacs out there. yes indeedy the miraculous Mambo lnn (Brixton) retums and
takes up residence in Bugsy's (Venue 85). full details in a future issue. Also back after a long break is the Arch. with
' two nights of cool sounds
down The Vaults. details next issue. This year's most promising nights are to be held in The Calton. with a weekend of outrageously good nights including Club Dog. the Drum Club and Test Dept.
