technology has arrived at the tenth annual Edinburgh Puppet and Animation Festival, which is being held at various venues during the Easter holidays. The event continues to attract the best national companies, and highlights this year include the Clown .lewels production or “Zoom Theatre’s Exhibit ’A”, which uses live actors and interactive animation, plus a series of workshops by Terry Lee, ol Spitting image and Jim ilenson tame, who will be revealing some trade secrets.
For younger children, Pipsquedi, the mouse who lives in a magic cupboard, will be having loads oi adventures and hobo-Pinocchio will be tending ott giant fish and monsters in open lland Theatre Company’s production.
This is the second yr that the festival has expanded to include animation and there is a lull programme or screeings at the Fllmhouse (see Film section). The move proved so successful last year that attendance figures doubled overall and this year the organisers are expecting similar numbers.
As new technology continues to break boundaries, there are no trontlers to how tar the imagination can be stretched. Together with the dynamic and creative nature of puppetry, this testivai promises to be
