WHEN THE RAVE IS OVER

Fed up with the rave scene but you still want to dance long and hard? Well, over the next couple at weeks help will be at hand at both ends of the M8. 0n

1 Feb, Glasgow’s Pussy Power Productions bring Blast Dlt: Stage 2 to The Arches Theatre, the follow-up to their event at the beginning ot September. in Edinburgh, Sundance- ‘A Kaleidoscope DtSounds’ - will be taking over The Assembly Rooms two weeks later on 15 Feb. What both events, and they most definitely are events, have in common is that the organisers realise that not everyone wants to be tell in cavernous halls in the middle of nowhere with the only non~musical stimulus being at the illegal variety.

Blast Dtt, with members of Test Dept amongst the organisers, will bring transvestite and Japanese dancers along to groove to the sounds supplied by the impressive collection at DJs- Terry (Breeze and Deja Vu), Jason (Psyche and Time), Lex, Paul (Blast Oil) and Winston Hazel (Sheltield's Forgemasters) - and live appearance

ge Bam Yasi’s Mr Egg

MC Kinky trom Glasgow Techno band Kookie. And it all that‘s not enough, why not try your hand at Barlly, where dressed in a velcro suit you can lling yoursell at the walls living out all your Cronenberg lantasiies in an imitation oi Jeff Goldblum.

Sundance is, it anything, even more ambitious. The DJs are more national in outlook-The Wag’s Fat Tony, Kiss FM’s Dave Lambert and Legend‘s Michael D as well as Stirling's Reanimator and Edinburgh’s Luke. The size and layout at The Assembly Rooms also means each room will have a different musical llavour, all the way from soul to techno. With Greek-style backdrops and PAs from the wondertul MC Kinky (‘lnna We Kingdom’ and Moe Possee’s “Everything Starts With An E’) and the equally wonderful Ege Bam Yasi (who release the ‘EBY EP’ at the end at the month), Sundance looks set to be a night oi civilised decadence and just the thing to kick those Valentine Day blues into touch.
