I Alex Moore Memorial Concert Mitchell Theatre. Granville Street. 221 3198. 8pm. £8. The late Alex Moore. whodied prematurely earlier this year. was a familiar figure on the Glasgow jazz scene. and reached a wider audience through his membership of the Sandy Taylor Trio which backed singer Carol Kidd for more than a decade. Alex's poignant guitar behind the singer on ‘When 1 Dream‘ was alwaysa highlight of the set. Carol Kidd and guitarist Martin Taylor will both be taking part in this tribute. as will the Sandy Taylor Trio. augmented by various guests from the Glasgow scene. in what should be a fine memorial to the bass player and guitarist. The concert is beingorganised by the Society of Musicians. where Alex was a regular performer. but all proceeds will go to a Trust Fund being set upfor Alex‘s youngest daughter. Letitia. Book early. though: given the occasion. and the presence of Carol and Martin. tickets are likely to disappear fast.
