I Radio City at the Mayfair (Cameo Suite). 10pm—2.30am. £2. Sixties rock
. merging surprisingly well with 905 rave. with the odd dance record thrown in too.
I Rumble at Joe Paparazzi.
l 1pm—3.30am. £3.50 (£1 .50 student). The only problem with Rumble is that it's so dark. so big and so popular that ifyou're hoping to see friends there you really have to arrange it well in advance. Personally. I wish they wouldn't inflict full half-hours of bleep-bleep-twiddle on us. but those cavernous green shapes the lasers throw up keep boredom at bay. See you on the stairs at half-past one.
I Shag at Fury Murry's. 11pm—late. £3. Enjoyable mish-mash of indie-dance. pop. classic chart hits and silly singalongs. Plus free chocolate.

‘ usual enjoyable indie-dance sensations for
the studes. Level 4 remains its usual sub-Sub Club self.
I Time Warp Rock Club at The Venue. 10pm—late. £2.50 (£6 for weekend ticket). They‘re amenable to requests. but basically it‘s a mixture of rock. metal. thrash. punk. goth and ‘good indie sounds‘ rather than heavier stuff— ie you can probably dance to it as well as nod your head a lot. All drinks£1.
I The Tunnel 11pm—3.30am. £4. Rap. house. techno and dance music in
. well-trendy atmosphere — goggle at the
lack of clothes taste and try to guessjust how much those skimpy little shorts cost. 1 could do without the cavortings of those ‘dancers‘ on pillars. though. Meanwhile in the smaller room. a more soulful atmosphere prevails. 28 June only: the revered Paul Oakenfold as guest DJ.

I Club Classics at Glasgow University Union. 9.30pm—1.30am. £2. Students and guests only. Mainstream music to chat up by. mostly chart dance and techno.
I Club Mandela at Maryhill Community Halls. lilpm—lam. £2 (£1.50). 6Julyonly: Anti-apartheid benefit by the Unity Reggae disco. with rap. lovers‘ rock. African rhythms. salsa and a mellow atmosphere.
I Detect at Fury Murry's. 11pm—late. £3.50. Dance music and 805 pop for the medium-hip studenttypes. ‘
I Divine at the Art School. 11pm—2am. £2. ' Deco-groovy 605 pop and indie faves ofa
psychedelic persuasion — clothes and complexions spotty. but music coherently good.

DJ Alfredoand' Definition of Sound (see preview). 6July only: Ragga Twins and DJ Colin Hudd from London's Land OfOz.
I Wild at the Cotton Club. llpm—3.30am. £4 (£3 with flyer). Radio Clyde's George Bowie plays dance music and good-time party music - which sounds pretty ominous to me -— with the occasional company of fire—eaters or singing tramps. so l'm told. lfyou're the sort ofperson who describes themselves as ‘wacky' or
( 'bubbly'. then you'll probably go overboard for this.
would be nice for a start. And. always happy to oblige. Crash do the biz with an appearance on 28 June by Beats International. with Lindy Layton performing live tracks from both their and her albums.
I New releases A bumper bag of new single releases found its way to the Club Pages this week. with three of the best offerings we‘ve heard for. oh . .. ages and ages. First upis the debut from Edinburgh's very own Yo Yo Honey. a slice ofsweet sweet soul on Jive records called ‘Get It On.‘ With an Oakenfold remix and rumours of Radio 1 playlisting already. this looks set to send the band followingin The Chimes footsteps into the charts. Even more to our likingis the latest offering from local ‘noise terrorists‘ Fini Tribe. ‘101.‘ Named after its bpm. the track has remixes by 808 State‘s Graham Massie and the ubiquitous Andy Weatherall. and could well be the bands first ever hit. Fingers crossed . . . Our single ofthc fortnight. though is the eponymously-titled second offering from London band If? A follow up to the critically acclaimed floorfiller ‘Saturdays Angels'. it's out now on MCA records. The band are on tour now with label-mates Transvision Vamp— and sound a sight betterthan the headliners. let me tell you. I Live. . .Somewherc. sometime in the second week ofJuly expect local live performances byA Man Called Adam; a former jazz collective turned club outfit whose 7in ‘Barefoot in The Head' was last summer's lbiza anthem. They'll be playing at venues in Edinburgh and Glasgow— more details when we get them. I More live This fortnight’s best live action (apart from Preview stars Definition ()fSound) Comes from the unmistakable Ragga Twins. Touring to promote their fourth single ‘llooligar169'. which is burning upthe country's dancefloors as we speak. the band visit Pure at Edinburgh's Venue on 5 July. andThe Tunnel. (iiasgow on 6 July.
