/-\ — Aweek at the races with Comic Reliei Yes, it’s Comic Reliel time again, but don’t even think about getting any reliei irom all those cod comedians by immersing yourself in your iavourite sport, because Lenny Henry and his helpers irom the Scottish Sports Council will be conking those red red noses on all and sundry during the week oi 9-16 March. From Aberdeen down to Ayrshire, sporty types will be donning their red noses and specially- created ‘Very Hearty Bright Red Sports Headbands’ (a snip at a quid a throw irom Comic Reilei) and doing silly things in the aid oi charity and the promotion of a healthy iiiesiyle.
Comic Relief will benellt irom the large amounts oi extra dosh attracted to their cotters while, as Kate Vincent at the Sports Council puts it, ‘The links we are making with Comic Reliel are helping us to promote our message to an audience we could never have envisaged on our own.’

George Square, Glasgow, on Saturday 9 when BBC Scotland’s very own Hazel lrvine will abseil down the iront oi the City Chambers. ‘No, i won’t be wearing pink pyjamas,’ she says, ‘iust a red helmet with hands on it and a red nose. I don't really know what you wear for abseiling down the iront oi the City Chambers, but presumably i will be setting a trend.’
Participation is the name of the Sports Council’s game. While about hall the population are reputed to _ regularly partake in some sporting activity or other, they want to increase this iigure substantially. On Saturday the 16th, the Kelvin Hall in Glasgow will be oliering iree entry to any person rash enough to turn up in a red nose. Free coaching will be given in a variety oi activities including athletics, quick cricket, judo and basketball.
The students at Queen Margaret College, Edinburgh are really throwing themselves into the comic aspect oi the week, as one might expect. Every week day there will be some loony event or other leatured at the Main concourse at 36 Clerwood Terrace.
