Book Trust is holding a book week for Special Needs children. 23 Feb-l Mar in the Museum of Transport. Extra Special Book Event will be opened on 23 Feb at 2.30pm by Blue Peter presenterJohn Leslie (this part of the proceedings is by invitation only) and will be open to the general public from around 3.30pm onwards. Seminars and discussions must be booked (phone Book Trust on 041332 0391 for details). Storytelling sessions and puppet shows. at 11am and 2pm on weekdays. are heavily booked by school classes but the Book Trust says that any youngsters accompanying parents to the exhibition will be welcome to join the audience. If you were among the 20,000 who last year attended the first Scottish International Children’s Festival at lnverleith Park, Edinburgh, you’ll be glad to know that there’s another one this year-dates for your diary are 28 May-2 June. Already there are bookings from over 115 schools, but as before there’s heaps of entertainment after school hours and at the weekend —
so there's no excuse for missing out on

There’s a strong international Input with music, dance, theatre, puppetry and mime from Argentina, Denmark and the USA complementing companies from Scotland and England. Free on-site entertainment has been extended — ongoing stage and music shows, more face-painting facilities, three bouncy castles, an environmental quiz and leader-led organised games.
Add to the list return visits from the ever-popular Mr Boom, the zany Clown Jewels (hoping that rain won't stop play this year), the Passport Office and the City Libraries’ Tent, and you will see there’s something for everyone to enjoy between shows. More good news is that the organisers haven’t heard of inflation (unlike vaudeville American artiste Fred Garbo, pictured above). At 22 a head, ticket prices remain the same as in 1990.
