Desert Canto VI: The PR 3 Nov—2 Dec. The latest in the ‘Desert Cantos' series by American Richard Misrach exploresthc relationship between humans and the desert. The current subject is the burial sites in Nevada for livestock which die suddenly. in large numbers. due to— Misrach believes — contamination of the groundwater by nuclear testing. Large colour photographs juxtapose dead and decomposing animals with the stunning desert landscapes and skies. aiming to attract and repel the viewer and invite a critique on the American dream of limitless technological development. From Dunoon to Coney Island 3 Nov—2 Dec. An installation by Michel Naismith. inCorporating photographs and Super-8 film. taken in seaside resorts in Scotland and America. The emphasis is on time‘s passage rather than the specific location. and the implicit rather than actual human presence adds a sense of loss to the images.
