FILM LIST
Hanks plays an obsessively clean and efficent cop who inherits Hooch the pooch. a massive mastiff. The limited comedy revolves around the dog's ability to drool gallons of of saliva and dismantle all obstacles while helping the police with their enquiries. Needless to say. the two form a loving relationship and needless to say the film was a winner in the US. but UK audiences had best hope that talents like Hanks. Spottiswoode and even Beazley get better scripts in the future. Glasgow: Cannon The Forge. ()deon. Edinburgh: ()deon. Strathclyde: UCI Clydebank. UCI East Kilbride.
I Two Moon Junction ( 18) (Zalman King. US. 1988) Sherilyn Fenn. Richard Tyson. Kirsty McNichol. 104 mins. Soon-to-be-wed Southern belle Fenn falls for merry-go-round attendant Perry Tyson. Soon the pair are grappling to a thumping backbeat. with a videocamera thrown in for good measure. The affair continues until the showdown at Two Moon Junction on the eve of her nuptials. An X-rated shampoo advert. which for the most part remains a head and shoulders experience. Edinburgh: ()deon.
I The Unfaithful (l’G) (Vincent Sherman. US. 1948) Ann Sheridan. Zachary Scott. Lew Ayres. 109 mins. Unacknowledged version of Somerset Maugham‘s The Letter has Sheridan as a housewife determined to hide a guilty secret from her new hubby Scott. Acidic dialogue in what is novelist David Goodis’s only fully realised Ilollywood screenplay. Edinburgh: Filmhouse.
I Vertigo (PG) (Alfred Hitchcock. LIS. l958)James Stewart. Kim Novak. Barbara Bel Geddes. 128 mins. Detective Stewart. a man with a fear of heights. falls in love with a woman who apparently commits suicide. When he meets her double. he becomes obsessed with the possibility that she is still alive. Extaordinary plotting in this undervalued Hitchcock study of romantic mania. with

Stewart memorably cast against type as the distinctly on-the-edge cop. The Bernard Herrmann score is simultaneously lush and disturbing. Glasgow: (EFT. I Weekend At Bernie‘s ( 12) (Ted Kotcheff. US. 1989) Andrew McCarthy. Jonathan Silverman. Catherine Mary Stewart. Terry Kiser. 99 mins. Two insurance company employees have wacky weekend. Must I go on'.’ Having been rewarded by their shady boss with 21 Labor Day holiday at his beach house. the pair are perplexed to find their mentor dead on arrival. Cripes. the other guests are about to arrive so the chums try to pass him offas an ongoing concern to their fellow house guests. Thoughtful sex comedy has Crystal (Harry). Ryan (Sally) and Reiner on top form. with highly entertaining results. Nora liphron's witty screenplay intelligently ponders the possibility of male female friendship with or without romance. and guess which side wins. . .Annie Hall for the late 1980s.with now-famous faked orgasm.
