Peter and Julian supply massive sounds for two dancefloors while Negociants provide food in the upstairs restaurant. As inventive and enjoyable as Thunderball ever was. but only half as busy.

I immigrant Club Shady Lady's. 10.30pm—3am. £2. Following in the footsteps ofthe Backroom. the Immigrant revamps this venue‘s history for hosting Independent music mixed with classic bands like SLF and the Ramones. Still a popular Saturday option.

I Messenger Reggae Sound System The Venue. 9pm—late. £2 (£1 .50). For the first time in this city a reggae club that plays Ragamuffin. Lovers rock and some massive Dub instead of chart reggae. Having been on the Edinburgh scene for a while toasting in various clubs. Papa Zeb I, now runs his own joint using the 4k PA to its full effect. 27 Feb only: ‘Scream‘. £1.50 with ticket; £2 without. All we know about this is that it‘s a one-off.
I O-Zone Cinderellas Rockerfellas. 7.30-10.30pm. £1 .50 (50p with ticket). Trendy teen disco for 14—18 year olds. 50p tickets should still be in circulation.
Wednesdays
I Breathless Potterrow. 8pm—lam. Students £1.50. guest 50p with matric card. Breathless continues not only to draw a good crowd but also to encompass more up-to-date sounds. playing tracks from groups such as NWA and De la Soul. making this student club one of the best of its kind. Maybe the fact that they have the cheapest bar prices in town helps it retain a sense of fun.
I The Deep The Mission. 10.30pm—3am. £2. Widely reputed to have one of the best playlists in town. The Deep supplies a serious rave for the middle of the week.
I F"K ll Red Hot Pepper Club. 10.30pm—3am. £2.50 with leaflet and £3 on the door. With DJ‘Steve. Murray. Martin and Paul on the turntables. Pure funk.
I Sexbeat Shady Lady‘s. 10.30pm—3am. £2.00 (£1 .50 before 1 1pm). Billed with an invitation to sleaze the nighlaway. this
new club plays mostly Nu-Beat and Indie dance music. The strong advertising campaign will help it take off— could you resist a poster inscribed You Will (‘ome To The Sex Heal? Me neither.
Thursdays
I Chateaux Cha Cha Blue Oyster Club. 10.30pm—3am. £2.50. Designer gear a go-go at this stylish club which combines the best of both the gay and straight scenes under one groove. Music supplied by the Dreadnought IIi-Fi Sound system and Temple Sounds. Well worth a visit.
I Freedom Wilkie Ilouse. 10.30pm-3am. £2.00. Incorporating a wide spectrum of the dance scene. this club not only plays House and Hip Hop but also a good dose of R+ B. soul and ska. ()rganised by the same crew who run Breathless. it aims to provide a good night out as well as fundraising once a month. Probably the best of the city‘s clubs at the moment.
I Atomic hi-NRG Attack The Penthouse. 8pm—lam. IIi-NRG. UK imports. remixes. chart and dance music.
I Shag The Mission. 10.30pm—3am. £1.50. Arguably one of the most popular clubs in town. and certainly the sweatiest. Normally populated by a student-orientated crowd who are about as varied as the playlist. If you can stand the heat and those old Grease records it remains a good night out. but be warned - be early or be elsewhere.
