promises to produce some nice prices for some rather interesting pieces of football bits ’n‘ pieces. such as an FA Cup winner‘s medal. presented to the Scot. Alex James. of Arsenal in 1930. and a Challenge Cup runner‘s-up medal. given to Celtic‘s Tom Maley in the 1988/89 season. However. before you search through the attic for that old Clyde v Raith Rovers programme or Denis Law's bootlace that was won in a charity raffle. the supply ofmaterial which is being unearthed to service the demand is such that you would probably be better served keeping them for the purposesof revitalising happy (or not so happy) memories. PREMIER LEAGUE
The World Cup Qualifying match against Norway. on Wed 15. has led tothe re-scheduling of four Premier Division matches: Aberdeen-Rangers and Celtic-St Mirren (for Wed 22). whilst the Dundee United-Hibernian and Motherwell-Dunfermline matches will have already taken place (on Wed 8).
I Hearts V Dundee Tynecastle Park. Gorgie Road. Edinburgh. 3pm.
FIRST DIVISION
I Airdrie V Raith Rovers Broomfield. Airdrie (5 mins Airdrie station). 3pm.
I Meadowbanlt v Ayr United Meadowbank Stadium. London Road. Edinburgh. 3pm. I Clydebanlt v Forlar Athletic Kilbowie Park. Clydebank (2 mins from Singer station). 3pm.
I Particlt Thistle v Hamilton Accies Firhill Park. Maryhill. Glasgow. 3pm. Both Partick Thistle and Hamilton are teams who would likely benefit from the creation ofa 14-team Premier League. ifsuch a thing was ever to come to pass. Thistle have already taken steps to canvass the views ofa number of Premier League managers and administrators on the subject. though their chances of instigating change will remain slim so long as the current format is considered to be the source of the apparent health ofthe game in terms of attendances and players being imported from England and elsewhere.
I Ayr United V Falkirlt Somerset Park. Ayr. 3pm.
SECOND DIVISION
I East Stirling v Kilmarnock Firs Park. Falkirk. 3pm.
I Dueen’s Park V East File llampden Park. Glasgow (5 mins Mount Florida and Kings Park stations). 3pm.
Tuesday 14
I Scotland Under-21v Norway Under-21 McDiarmid Park. Perth. 7.30pm. St Johnstone. and their new ground. are honoured by being given this match. which hopefully will provide all the correct omens for the senior match tomorrow evening at Hampden. However. amidst all the concerns about the state ofScottish football. little has been said ofthe performances ofthe Under-21 squad. who have performed even worse than the full international side. Mind you. when talented youngsters such as Kevin Gallacher are asked to perform difficult tasks in the Premier League (Gallacher is given the role as Dundee United‘sonly forward on many occasions). then it‘s hardly surprising that this translates unfavourably into the international arena.

I St Minen v Hibernian Love Street. Paisley (5 mins from Gilmour Street station). 3pm. With Dunfermline and Motherwell picking up a respectable number of points. the Buddies and Hibees could soon be enmeshed in an unseemly battle to avoid relegation. Dundee. another candidate for the drop. are unlikely to improve on their lowly standing after their encounter with Rangers up at Dens Park. However. given the vitality of the current First Division. maybe relegation is not as financially debilitating as it used to be.
